Job Title: Relationship Officer

Job Summary

  • The Relationship Officer in the Primary Markets has the main responsibility of attracting new companies to list on "The Exchange’s" Boards – (Growth Board, Main Board and Premium Board) and increase the value added to existing listed companies on the Growth Board, Main Board and Premium Board, through The Exchange’s various value added services (VAS) offerings to ensure continued retention.
  • The incumbent is expected to develop in-depth knowledge of the sector(s) assigned to them as well as maintain and attract new clients accordingly.
  • Reporting to a Team Lead, Primary Markets, the incumbent of the role will operate from the Corporate Headquarters of "The Exchange".

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect companies to bring them to list on "The Exchange’s" Boards – Growth, Main Board and Premium Board
  • Market and sell various products & services of the NSE to prospective and existing listed companies to increase the listing value proposition
  • Develop, and maintain trusted relationships with the leadership and executive level of listed companies, e g CEO, CFO, and Board Members
  • Promote listed company interface with "The Exchange" through participation at “bell ringing” ceremonies, “Facts behind the Figures” and attendance at relevant NSE events
  • Develop expertise in assigned industry sector(s) to enhance marketing and relationship management
  • Understand the business needs and operations of the potential and listed companies’ community
  • Contribute to the achievement of listing sales goals and retention of revenue
  • Through pro-active relationship management, identify new products / incremental revenue opportunities
  • Present to industry associations on capital markets and listing related issues
  • Respond to enquiries from prospective and listed companies
  • Organize periodic forums with listed companies as determined by market conditions and The Exchange’s business imperatives
  • Work closely with the Product Management team and other teams to provide market intelligence on ongoing product and service development
  • Generally act as the main point of contact for listed companies with "The Exchange".

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Business Admin / Finance / Accountancy / Law / Banking or other related discipline
  • 3 to 7 years client facing experience in the Capital Markets / Investment Banking/ Asset Management / Financial Services / manufacturing / commerce / agricultural / transport / telecoms or oil and gas sectors
  • MBA, professional and other post graduate qualifications will be an added advantage.

Job Title: Relationship Manager - SOE Listings

Job Summary

  • The role is to support the Head, SOE in the drive to identify government-owned businesses that can be privatised and eventually listed in allocated sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the public sector circle and within Government-Owned Businesses that are commercialised or concessioned including Public Utility entities.
  • Incumbent must have an extensive knowledge of the Exchange’s products and cultivate good knowledge of the prospect’s business, with a view to aligning their needs with the right solutions.
  • Serving as the Relationship Manager – SOE Listings (Commercialisation, Concession & Public Utility Sector), this position reports to the Head, SOE Listings at the Corporate Headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

  • To consistently develop, Liaise & manage relationship with commercialised & concessioned government entities with the purpose of understanding their requirements and recommend capital market solutions accordingly
  • Liaise and develop relationships with market operators (Issuing Houses) with the purpose of working together on deals leading to listings on the exchange
  • Coordinate the activities of the SOE Listings participations in the Concession/Commercialisation space of government-owned business
  • Strengthen The NSE brand in the public sector arena – ‘Raising awareness of product ranges offered by "The Exchange"
  • To identify and generate leads for SOE Listings business leading to privatisation and listing – ‘contribution to the bottom line’ and support in the delivery of financial objectives by growing clientele base and revenue Have a proper understanding of Privatisation, PPP, Concession and Commercialisation of Government entities
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector and maintain relationships through regular contacts and effective visits to all assigned and prospects
  • Qualify all viable leads after proper analysis on case by case basis by arranging meetings with management team
  • Support in the delivery of financial objectives by growing clientele base and revenue
  • Ensure delivery of industry-leading service to new and existing SOE prospects
  • Maintain proper understanding of products & service offerings of NSE and stay up to date on industry knowledge
  • Represent the company at marketing events, networking events, meetings with prospects or partners
  • Maintain strong positive relationships with all customers and demonstrate good professionalism in engagements with them
  • Have a clear understanding of the competitive landscape and contribute to appropriate strategy for the purpose of remaining relevant in the marketplace
  • Gather information that is needed to prepare and develop pitch book and presentation materials on case by case basis
  • Continuously identify and exploit cross selling opportunities that embed the NSE and its products with prospects needs
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations for ExCo and other key stakeholders P & L responsibilities for SOE Listings

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven leadership skills A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or other related disciplines. Minimum 8 years relevant experience in Relationship Management (Banking, Financial Institutions or Investment Banking) Membership of a professional body- CIS, ICAN etc. is an advantage
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • The Equities Product Manager will oversee all functions pertaining to the equities product line with the overall goal of ensuring that Equities products are appropriately priced, positioned, promoted, and supported in a way that will increase order flow as measured by number of transactions, trading volume and value in line with the overall goals of the product management department.
  • The Equities Product Manager will also become the “product advocate” by proactively disseminating related information while communicating the product message.
  • The candidate is expected to stay abreast of the competitive landscape and industry trends (utilizing internal and external data/information resources) to create a competitive platform that enables stakeholders realize their investment objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance the market micro-structure (in areas such as transaction fees, market making, , securities lending and short selling, and market quality) to increase product profitability
  • Catalyse the adoption of global best practices in sales practice, Equities order handling, trade execution, trade reporting, and other initiatives that will enhance the client experience when interacting in the Nigerian securities market
  • Liaise with the Market Operations and Technology Division to ensure system compatibility with market structure enhancements in support of the Equities product line
  • Work with market participants to increase market liquidity in equities and consider questions such as appropriateness of algorithmic trading in the Nigerian market, length of trading hours, stock circuit breakers, best execution statistic, Opening and Closing auctions, etc
  • Drive review and amendment of trading rules as necessary, to promote fair and orderly trading in equities
  • Maintain relationships with broker-dealers, market makers, Institutional Investors and other trading participants locally and internationally
  • Serve as a proactive resource to other areas of the organization in order to educate and train them on product attributes and new initiatives
  • Coordinate and operate investor education in partnership with other stakeholders on E based products

Other Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and partner with other Secondary Market team members and stakeholders, to design and price products, identify and address key issues that must be resolved before a successful product launch occurs
  • Serve as gatekeeper, ambassador and product line expert to internal/external parties
  • Analyse new product ideas in conjunction with institutional/wholesale distribution and marketing firms to determine success potentials and uniqueness within the industry
  • Continuously monitor industry trends and competitive environment; recommend initiatives to strengthen market position

Qualifications and Experience

  • A first degree in Finance or business related areas
  • A post graduate degree (MSc or MBA) or professional certification and licenses (eg CIS, CFA, Finra series 7 and 24) will be an added advantage
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in financial services industry or in an investment product management/marketing role, distribution-related role
